[music |Pork and Beans - Weezer]

This past Friday the 13th, the fires in the Bay got worse, and the smoke blanketed the town. This is what it did to the sky.

Taken right outside my house. The sun was red, though the camera picked up a little bit of an orange tone. It was very dark, maybe an hour from sunset. Naturally Stefen and I took the cameras and went to the bridge.

Sun coming through the trees. It was a very post-apocalyptic atmosphere. I loved it.

One of the buildings that sits almost under the bridge, in contrast with the sun.

Sky and tracks.

We were lucky enough to get a few trains while we were out shooting. This was the first one, heading west.

Sunlight glinting off the tracks.

The sun was seriously dead looking. I wish I could've captured it better than this, but man, crazy.

Sun and tracks.

Second train that came, heading east. I did a bit of lightening up on this so you could see some of the detail better.

The intersection near my house, walking back. Dark, dark skies. What was weird was that there was no smell of smoke in the air, none at all.

The smoke cloud, some sky. Near my house.

I command you all to go watch Weezer's video for Pork and Beans, right now.

Wow, kinda reminds me of the time when we had these massive bushfires near where I live o:

But that was a few years ago now....

There were fires in my hometown about three years ago, and it caused the same sort of atmosphere. It rained ash (which it also did here) and was just...crazy.

Woah, that's really crazy! I would never imagine seeing ash raining... /very/ apocalyptic xD

But meh. We get more duststorms than bushfires around here these days :/

I suppose I could. Lately all the photography I've been doing has really inspired me, so I don't know. I guess it all depends on time.

it was for a few days when some of the close by fields were burning. i think you are closer to some of the forest fires though.
when we went to sanfran last weekend it was all smoked in there from the santacruz fires.

Wow, those are some intense photos! When smoke lights up the sky, it's eerily beautiful.

Also, you're a really good photographer. wonderful, albeit creepy, shots!

The actual sky was insane - I really wish I could have gotten video or something with better colors and representation, because damn, it was one of the most eerie and beautiful things I've ever seen.
